AWAITING THE KING | The Witnesses

2026-10-0538:42

October 4, 2026 - The temple is measured, the holy city is trampled, and two witnesses prophesy in the pattern of Moses and Elijah. They represent the church in its prophetic vocation. The witnesses do not possess conventional power. They testify, suffer, die, and appear defeated. Babylon celebrates over their bodies. Yet God raises them. The church’s apparent vulnerability is not evidence of its failure. Its vocation is not to preserve itself at every cost but to bear faithful witness to the kingdom. The world may silence witnesses, but it cannot prevent God from vindicating their testimony. The seventh trumpet announces the destination of history: the kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of God and his Christ.

AWAITING THE KING | Eat The Scroll

2026-09-2836:14

September 27, 2026 - John receives a scroll and is commanded not merely to read it but to eat it. God’s word is sweet because it announces the reign and renewal of God. It is bitter because bearing that word means confronting evil, suffering with the world, and speaking truths people may resist. The prophet cannot remain outside the message as an observer. The word must enter his body. Christian witness comes from a people who have metabolized the gospel—whose imaginations, speech, desires, finances, relationships, and bodies have been shaped by what they announce. This is especially important in an age of constant information. We can consume words without being formed by wisdom. Revelation calls the church to a slower, embodied reception of Scripture.

AFTER HOURS | Awaiting the King : Earthbound

AWAITING THE KING | Earthbound

2026-09-2137:07

September 20, 2026 - The trumpet judgments intensify, and destructive powers emerge from the abyss. The imagery is nightmarish because idolatry is nightmarish. What human beings worship eventually begins to deform and consume them. The demonic armies promise power but produce torment. Humanity’s idols—violence, wealth, control, and false worship—cannot see, hear, walk, or give life. Those who make and trust them become similarly unresponsive. Yet the chapter ends with humanity refusing to repent. Judgment alone does not automatically soften the heart. Pain can expose us, but it cannot by itself recreate us. The church must resist using Revelation’s imagery to identify other people as monsters while leaving its own idols unnamed. The abyss is not merely “out there.” Destructive desire seeks openings in every human heart and community.

AFTER HOURS | Awaiting the King : Reversed Thunder

2026-09-1838:52

After Hours is a series from Redeemer Presbyterian Church that serves as a space to continue discussion or thoughts from that weeks sermon. AWAITING THE KING | Reversed Thunder

2026-09-1434:39

September 13, 2026 - When the seventh seal opens, heaven falls silent. The silence creates space for the prayers of the saints. Their prayers rise with incense before God and are then thrown back toward the earth. What looked like weak, unheard prayer participates in the movement of heaven. The trumpets echo the plagues of Egypt and warn creation’s oppressors. The judgments are partial rather than final. They function as alarms, exposing the destructive consequences of idolatry and calling humanity to repentance. The church may believe prayer is what we do when we cannot do anything meaningful. Revelation presents prayer as one of the most politically consequential acts of the church. Prayer refuses the apparent ultimacy of visible powers and brings the suffering of the world into the presence of the true King.

AWAITING THE KING | Who Can Stand

2026-09-0734:29

September 6, 2026 - Revelation 6 asks who can stand. Revelation 7 answers: those sealed by God and sheltered by the Lamb.John hears the numbered tribes of Israel and then sees an innumerable multitude from every nation. The people of God are both a divinely ordered army and a worshiping multicultural multitude. Their white robes have been washed in the blood of the Lamb—a paradox of cleansing through sacrifice. They have come through tribulation, but suffering does not possess or define them. God spreads his presence over them like a shelter. Hunger, thirst, scorching heat, and tears come to an end. The Lamb becomes their shepherd and guides them to living water. The King at the center of the throne is also the shepherd who bends toward his suffering people.

AFTER HOURS | Awaiting the King : When the World Comes Apart

After Hours is a series from Redeemer Presbyterian Church that serves as a space to continue discussion or thoughts from that weeks sermon. AWAITING THE KING | When the World Comes Apart

2026-08-3128:49

August 30, 2026 - The Lamb opens the seals, and conquest, war, scarcity, death, persecution, and cosmic upheaval appear. These are not exotic realities reserved for one final generation. They are the recurring realities of life in the present age. The four horsemen expose the forces that human rebellion releases into the world. Political conquest creates war. War produces scarcity. Scarcity and injustice produce death. Beneath the altar, the martyrs cry, “How long?”Revelation does not silence that cry. Faith does not require pretending that suffering is small. The prayers of the wounded enter the throne room. The chapter ends with a question: “Who can stand?” That question prepares for Revelation 7. We do not stand because history is stable, suffering is understandable, or we are naturally strong. We stand because we belong to the Lamb.

AFTER HOURS | Awaiting the King : Is Anyone Worthy

2026-08-3138:24

After Hours is a series from Redeemer Presbyterian Church that serves as a space to continue discussion or thoughts from that weeks sermon. You'll hear from our pastors as they dive deeper into the text and reflect on the passage in a deeper and more focused way. This episode reviews the sermon "Is Anyone Worthy" on August 23, 2026 from our sermon series "Awaiting the King".

AWAITING THE KING | Is Anyone Worthy

2026-08-2431:34

August 23, 2026 - A sealed scroll contains God’s purpose for creation, but no one is worthy to open it. John weeps because history appears locked: the world is full of suffering, yet no one can bring God’s purposes to completion. Then John hears that the Lion has conquered. He turns and sees a Lamb standing as though slaughtered. Jesus is worthy not because he possesses the greatest capacity for coercion but because he has faithfully given himself. The wounds of Jesus are not erased by resurrection. They have become the identifying marks of the King. The Lamb takes the scroll, and the throne room erupts in worship. His blood has ransomed a diverse people and made them a kingdom of priests. The Lamb’s victory creates a worshiping, reconciling, priestly people from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

AFTER HOURS | Awaiting the King : Frame of Reference

2026-08-2034:11

After Hours is a series from Redeemer Presbyterian Church that serves as a space to continue discussion or thoughts from that weeks sermon. You'll hear from our pastors as they dive deeper into the text and reflect on the passage in a deeper and more focused way. This episode reviews the sermon "Frame of Reference" on August 16, 2026 from our sermon series "Awaiting the King".

AWAITING THE KING | Frame of Reference

2026-08-1740:00

August 16, 2026  - John is invited through an open door and immediately sees a throne. Before Revelation shows the church the convulsions of history, it establishes the center of history. The throne is surrounded by beauty, worship, covenant signs, living creatures, and representatives of the people of God. Everything around the throne is alive with praise. The elders repeatedly surrender their crowns because all derivative authority belongs beneath the authority of the Creator. The church often experiences life from the edges: illness, political anxiety, institutional uncertainty, family suffering, cultural change, and fears about the future. Revelation reorients us. The apparent center of the world is not the actual center. Washington is not the center. Markets are not the center. Our fears are not the center. Even the church is not the center. The throne is the center, and the One upon it is worthy because he created and sustains all things.

God’s Posture of Blessing

2026-08-1031:01

August 9, 2026 - God’s Posture of Blessing (Numbers 6:22-27) from guest preacher Ben Tietje

FIRST LOVE | Love Closed Off

2026-08-0322:01

August 2, 2026 - Laodicea is wealthy, comfortable, successful, and blind to its need. They say, “I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing,” but Jesus says they are poor, blind, naked, and pitiable. Their lukewarmness is not mere spiritual boredom; it is self-sufficiency. They think they are hosting Jesus, but he is outside knocking. The invitation is to open the door, not by getting cleaned up first, but by becoming needy enough to receive his hospitality. Jesus comes to refine, clothe, heal, feed, and restore love.

AFTER HOURS | First Love : Love Sustained

2026-07-2944:54

After Hours is a series from Redeemer Presbyterian Church that serves as a space to continue discussion or thoughts from that weeks sermon. You'll hear from our pastors as they dive deeper into the text and reflect on the passage in a deeper and more focused way. This episode reviews the sermon "Love Sustained" on July 26, 2026 from our sermon series "First Love".

FIRST LOVE | Love Sustained

2026-07-2736:04

July 26, 2026 - Philadelphia is weak but faithful. They have little power, but they have kept Jesus’ word and have not denied his name. This sermon gives the series a needed word of encouragement: Jesus is not looking for impressive strength, but enduring faithfulness. He places before them an open door that no one can shut, and he promises permanence, belonging, and a secure name. Love is sustained not by our strength, but by Christ’s faithfulness to hold his people.

FIRST LOVE | Love Dead

2026-07-2034:12

July 19, 2026 - Sardis has a reputation for being alive, but Jesus says they are dead. This is the frightening possibility of spiritual self-deception: a church can look active, successful, and impressive while lacking true life. Their works are incomplete. Their attention has drifted. Their life has become hollow. Jesus calls them to wake up, strengthen what remains, remember what they received, keep it, and repent. The hope is renewal: Christ can give life where there is only appearance.

FIRST LOVE | Love Corrupted

2026-07-1337:52

July 12, 2026 - Thyatira is a church of love, faith, service, and endurance, but it has tolerated a voice that corrupts love from within. This sermon should explore the danger of truthless love, disordered desire, and false intimacy. The issue is not merely that the church is “too tolerant,” but that it has allowed something destructive to disciple its imagination, worship, and body. Jesus, whose eyes are like flame and whose feet are like burnished bronze, sees what is hidden and confronts what destroys love in order to restore what is true.

FIRST LOVE | Love Compromised

2026-07-0639:05

July 5, 2026 - Pergamum lives where Satan’s throne is. The church has held fast to Jesus’ name, even under persecution, but compromise has taken root within. Like Balaam, false teaching has placed stumbling blocks before God’s people. The church is being bewitched by the promises of empire, politics, patriotism, culture, sex, and the market. Jesus comes with the sharp sword of his mouth to expose lies and reclaim his people. He offers hidden manna and a white stone which is a better satisfaction and a truer name than the idols can give.

FIRST LOVE | Love Under Pressure

2026-06-2939:20

June 28, 2026 -- Smyrna is suffering. They are poor, slandered, threatened, and under crushing pressure. Yet Jesus offers no correction to this church. He tells them that he knows their tribulation, that their suffering is not hidden from him, and that death will not have the final word. The call is not escape, but faithfulness. In Smyrna, love is tested by suffering, fear, and loss but Jesus, the one who died and came to life, promises the crown of life.

FIRST LOVE | Love Lost

2026-06-2938:37

June 21, 2026 -- The church in Ephesus is active, discerning, hardworking, and committed to truth. They test false teaching. They endure. They have not grown weary. And yet Jesus says they have abandoned their first love. This sermon names the danger of faithfulness without affection, truth without love, and church life that becomes vinegar instead of joy. Jesus calls his church to remember, repent, and return not to a vague feeling, but to the love that first loved us.

AFTER HOURS | First Love : Love Unveiled

EBENEZER | Jonathan Murfee

2026-06-1759:13

In this podcast, we are sharing Ebenezer moments of the people of Redeemer Church. An Ebenezer moment is simply telling the truth about where you’ve been and noticing where God has met you along the way. Some of that may feel clear; some of it may still feel unfinished. These stories are invitations to listen together to remember thus far how the Lord has helped, and to notice how God has been faithful-sometimes quietly, sometimes slowly, often in ways we only see in hindsight. Join us and listen along.

FIRST LOVE | Love Unveiled

2026-06-1530:54

Revelation begins by pulling back the curtain. Before Jesus addresses the churches, John is given a vision of Jesus himself. The book is not first a puzzle to solve or a timeline to decode; it is an unveiling of Christ. It shows us that reality is deeper than what we can see with our eyes. Beneath suffering, fear, evil, compromise, and confusion, Jesus is present and reigning. This first sermon sets the lens for the whole series: the church can only hear Jesus rightly when it sees him clearly.

THIN PLACES | Pray at All Times

2026-06-0835:15

Paul ends his teaching on the armor of God by calling the church to pray at all times in the Spirit. Prayer is not one more piece of armor laid beside the others; it is the living dependence that activates and sustains the whole life of spiritual warfare. In a battle too great for us, prayer is how we call for help, stay alert, persevere, and carry one another before God. Paul urges believers to pray in every season, with every kind of prayer, with perseverance, and for all the saints. The Christian life is not lived in self-sufficiency but in constant reliance on the presence, power, and mercy of God. The armor is worn through prayer.

THIN PLACES | The Sword of the Spirit

2026-06-0135:05

Paul describes the Word of God as the sword of the Spirit because Scripture is the believer’s weapon in the spiritual battle. The enemy fights with lies, accusations, and temptations, but the Word of God exposes deception and anchors us in truth. Jesus himself modeled how to wield this sword when he resisted Satan in the wilderness by quoting Scripture. To take up the sword of the Spirit is to fill our minds with God’s Word, to answer temptation with truth, and to allow the Spirit to apply Scripture to our lives. In a world searching for meaning and truth, the Word of God remains living, active, and powerful. The sword that defeats the enemy is the Word of God.  It is our only offensive weapon.

THIN PLACES | The Helmet of Salvation

2026-05-2528:08

Paul tells us to take up the helmet of salvation because the battle is not only around us but also at the level of the mind. The enemy traffics in despair, confusion, condemnation, and forgetfulness, seeking to cloud our vision and unsettle our hope. But salvation guards the head by reminding us who Christ is, what he has done, and where the story is going. In Jesus, we have been saved, are being saved, and will be saved. The helmet of salvation protects the mind with hope, steadies us in the midst of attack, and teaches us to live from the certainty that our future belongs to Christ.

THIN PLACES | The Shield of Faith

2026-05-1832:22

The Christian life is lived under fire. The enemy sends flaming darts of fear, doubt, temptation, accusation, discouragement, and despair, especially in seasons of ministry, suffering, spiritual dryness, and vulnerability. Paul tells us to take up the shield of faith.  This is not faith in general, but faith in God himself. Faith is the act of taking refuge in the promises of God, the power of God, and the love of God. When the darts come, faith does not pretend they are harmless; it lifts the shield of God’s character and Christ’s finished work. In this way, faith extinguishes what would otherwise set the soul on fire.

THIN PLACES | The Sandals of Peace

2026-05-1139:00

In a world of hostility, anxiety, and division, Paul says the people of God are to stand with their feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. This peace is not mere calmness or avoidance of conflict. It is the peace Christ has made through his cross: peace with God, peace within ourselves, and peace with one another, peace with creation. The enemy loves division, suspicion, and hostility, but the gospel makes a new kind of people, who are steady, reconciled, and ready to carry peace into a fractured world. To wear the sandals of peace is to stand firm in the reconciling work of Christ and to become agents of that peace wherever we go. The enemy loves division; Christ is our peace.

You'll hear from our pastors as they dive deeper into the text and reflect on the passage in a deeper and more focused way. This episode reviews the sermon "The Breastplate of Righteousness" from May 3, 2026 from our sermon series "Thin Places".

THIN PLACES | The Breastplate of Righteousness

2026-05-0435:55

Beneath so much of human striving lies a deeper ache: the longing to be enough, to be approved, to be declared right. Ever since Eden, we have tried to cover our shame with fig leaves of success, morality, approval, romance, performance, and self-justification. But none of those coverings can protect the heart. Paul tells us to put on the breastplate of righteousness because our deepest defense is not a righteousness we achieve, but a righteousness we receive in Christ. Jesus took our guilt upon himself and gives us his righteous standing before the Father. Clothed in him, we can stand against accusation, condemnation, and shame.

THIN PLACES | The Belt of Truth

2026-04-2735:22

The enemy traffics in lies, distortion, and deception, so the first piece of God’s armor is truth. Paul tells us to fasten on the belt of truth because truth is what holds a life together. Lies fragment the self, corrode trust, and estrange us from the God of truth. But in Jesus Christ, who is himself the Truth, we are invited into freedom, integrity, and reality. As we are formed by God’s Word and practice truthfulness with one another, we learn to stand against the schemes of the devil.

THIN PLACES | The Enemy

2026-04-2038:55

If we are going to stand in the spiritual battle, we must know the enemy we face. Paul says the devil has schemes. These are tragedies designed to deceive, tempt, accuse, divide, and discourage the people of God. Scripture does not call us to fear him or obsess over him, but neither does it let us ignore him. The enemy is real, cunning, and destructive. Yet Christ has come to destroy the works of the devil, and in his strength the church can resist, stand, and walk in the light.

THIN PLACES | The War

2026-04-1531:46

Thin Places is a nine-week journey through Ephesians 6:10–20, where Paul reminds us that the Christian life unfolds in the midst of an unseen battle. Beneath the surface of everyday life there is a real spiritual conflict, and the people of God are called not to panic, but to stand in Christ. In this series, we will look at the schemes of the enemy and the armor God gives his people: truth for our confusion, righteousness for our shame, peace for our hostility, faith for the fire, salvation for our minds, the Word for the battle, and prayer for the journey. Above all, this series is not about fighting for victory, but learning to stand firm in the victory Christ has already won through his life, death and resurrection and our union with Him.
