Do The Thing - 7 - You Don't Have to be a Starving Artist
There's nothing romantic or noble about things being harder than they already are. You can be a creative person without being sad, tortured, broke or lost.
Do The Thing - 6 - Low Power Mode
How do you keep things going when it’s impossible to do everything at once at maximum energy and peak focus? What does your creative thing look like at 100% and what does it look like at 10%, while still being the thing you’re making. Because sometimes we only have energy to do the 10% version, right? Also, how many different faces can your creative project wear? If you make a variety of creative work, some people may only ever see one part of that work, the part that is for them... and that is ok. It has to be ok. You can’t be everything to everybody. It is a question of accessibility: physical, yes, but also temporal and emotional. This episode is an example. I want to keep producing but sometimes a livestream isn’t possible. How do I feel like I’m still on track, especially when I’m really only accountable to myself?
Do the Thing - 5 - Ideas Are Easy, Execution Is Hard
From the Monday Night Livestream.
Do The Thing - 4 - Musical Guest Doug McArthur
I talk with musician Doug McArthur about making music, creative spaces, and how to work with a creative partner.
Do The Thing - 3 - But What About a Paycheck?
Are you too old to start? How do you do creative works while keeping a day job? Plus: Jef gets mad at academia.
Do The Thing - 2 - Avoiding Creative Burnout
This episode I respond to your fantastic feedback about avoiding burnout and how to manage multiple creative projects at once.
