Person of Interest--Typology of Christ Part 5
Today, Pastor Robert Trout shares in depth on the Typology of Christ. The many images and similarities of Jesus throughout the Biblical record. They are reminders that there is one theme running throughout the Bible of how a Savior would one day come. He would come and perform signs and wonders and would spread a message of reconciliation of mankind to God. He would eventually be killed on a Roman cross, but three days later rise again just as He predicted.
Person of Interest--Finding Jesus in the Old Testament Part 4
There are many times when we can see a Type of Jesus in the Old Testament. Not everybody in the Old Testament shares similarities with Jesus. However, there are those who do. Today, we will begin to demonstrate how we can know who are Types of Christ in the Old Testament. We also show the rule to follow to verify if a biblical character is a type of Christ. These individuals are there to make us aware today how intricate and planned is the plan of God to send His only Son to this earth. It is also there to help the normal Jewish believer know and recognize the arrival of the Messiah.
Person of Interest--The Prophetic Fuse part 3
Today, as we continue in our current series, "Person of Interest" we come to the important Prophetic evidence that can be placed into two categories, Direct evidence and Cloaked Evidence. Author Jim Warner Wallace gives us insight on how both types of evidence are important in establishing a person of interest. The overall evidence given from the Old Testament prophets is staggering. It leaves very little doubt who Jesus is and how He still matters today.
Person of Interest--The Jesus Fuse. part 2
Today, we continue a series based on Jim Warner Wallace's book, "Person of Interest" Today we look at what Jim Warner Wallace calls the "spiritual strand'. Taking the ancient mythological gods he categorizes them by their attributes. What he discovers is though many of these 15 attributes are found in them, and many are similar to those that Jesus possesses, at closer examination they are not even close. What can we discover with this knowledge? Is Jesus a copy cat savior, or is He something much greater?
Person of Interest--In the fullness of time...part 1
Today, we embark on a seven part sermon series entitled, "Person of Interest". This series is based on the book by J. Warner Wallace entitled, "Person of Interest: Why Jesus still matters in a world that rejects the Bible” Today, we begin answering the question that J Warner Wallace asked in his book, "Why did Jesus come when He did? Why didn't He come earlier or even later?" There is plenty of evidence to demonstrate that there was divine preparation taking place before the birth of Jesus Christ.
I Am The Lord Who Makes You Holy
God speaks to his people in Leviticus chapter 20 and verse 8 and identifies that it is HE who makes His people holy. Today's message is a reminder of how God perfects His people. If it is true that God is HE who makes us Holy, what is our role scripturally, and more specifically what is God's role. We also address what to do when our past practices and deeds guilt us and bring condemnation upon us.
God's Grace Seen Through Their Eyes
Today, we examine Paul's teaching about Works vs Grace in Romans chapter 4. Paul speaks of how people come to saving faith. Paul points to Abraham and to David and then finally to himself in an explanation of righteousness, acceptance and salvation. This is important as we will discover that in a religious system based on works, everything is based on the sinner to prove their goodness. Whereas, a system based on God's grace is dependent on the Savior. We learn what it means to live by faith and the grace THAT GOD, supplies.
A Simple Strategy of Our Enemy
Today, we examine the moment that sin entered the human race. We can notice the tactics used by the enemy of our souls. These tactics can be clearly seen, and because of that we can counter them. These three strategies are effective, so effective that the devil continues to use them. In this message we discover what they are and how to combat them.
A better home is waiting...
Today, as we continue our study in the gospel according to Mark we come to the transfiguration of Jesus. We examine what this event means for us today. Understanding that Jesus is enough is at the heart of this message.
A Great Miracle
As humans we have the great privilege according to the Bible of being created in the image of God. That in and of itself is amazing enough, but we also have the promise of living for eternity if we except the free gift of God. Salvation and redemption add even more context for how blessed we are as followers of the Lord's. Today, we look at a great miracle and how its ramifications are still paying off dividends for those of us who believe.
