413. 7 Ways to Rewire Your Brain for a Life You Love

2026-10-1335:56

What are you getting really good at thinking? Because here's the thing. If you've spent years practicing worry, self-criticism, resentment, or expecting things to go wrong, you've probably gotten pretty good at it. But what if you started practicing something different? I've spent the last 12–15 years learning how to renew my mind, and you guys, it has completely changed the way I experience my life. Not because hard things stopped happening, but because I've learned to notice my thoughts, feel my emotions, and choose how I want to show up. Today I'm sharing 7 simple ways to rewire your brain for a life you love. We're talking about breaking negative thought patterns, practicing gratitude, remembering what you actually want, and taking small, faithful steps toward the life you're creating. And of course, I'm giving you an update on my very exciting morning routine involving a green smoothie and East of Eden. 😂 You don't have to change everything overnight, dear one. Just start practicing something different. What do you want to get really good at thinking over the next 90 days? ❤️ Dagmar Jacket- https://www.petiteknit.com/en/products/dagmar-jacket  East of Eden-  https://a.co/d/05dT2lXN  Favorite Things Learn more about your ad choices. 412. The Art of Tending - What if your life isn't a problem to fix, but a creation to tend?

2026-10-0623:18

I've been thinking a lot lately about the difference between trying to fix your life and learning how to tend to it. Especially if you're a high-capacity woman, it can be so easy to look at yourself like another project. Fix the hormones. Lose the weight. Get stronger. Declutter the house. Get more disciplined. Set the goal. Do the thing. And listen, I love a good 90-day goal. 😂 But what if we approached it differently? What if your life isn't a problem to solve, but something beautiful you've been given to tend? That's what we're talking about today. As I've been thinking about my own next 90 days, I realized that after everything our family has walked through this year, there are some parts of me that I just haven't tended to very well. Not because I've done anything wrong. My attention needed to be somewhere else for a while. But now I feel myself being called back. Back to physical books. Back to nourishing my body. Back to slower mornings and paying attention and taking good care of the instrument through which I get to do my life's work. So my big, exciting 90-day plan? A smoothie and East of Eden. 😂 And I am genuinely so excited about it. Because maybe creativity isn't only painting or writing or making music. Maybe it's the way you make dinner. The way you dress. The way you tend your home. The way you love your people. The way you care for your body. The way you decide what kind of woman you want to become in this next season. What would change if you became the artist of your own life? Instead of asking, "What do I need to fix?" Maybe ask: "What in my life is asking to be tended to?" Your body? Your mind? Your home? Your marriage? Your spiritual life? Your imagination? Your attention? Notice what's calling to you. And then tend to it with some care and imagination and delight. That's what I'm doing for these next 90 days, and maybe you want to join me. ❤️ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

411. The Hidden Cost of Being the Woman Who Can Handle Everything!

2026-09-2923:08

Are you the one everybody calls? The one who figures it out, makes sure everybody has what they need, keeps all the balls in the air, and says, "I'm fine. I've got it. I'll figure it out." Because SAME. For so much of my life, being capable and independent was such a huge part of my identity. And the truth is, I usually could figure it out. I could handle it. I could make it work. But somewhere along the way I started realizing that just because I can do everything myself doesn't mean that's how I want to live. And it definitely doesn't mean that's how God designed us to live. In this episode, we're talking about the hidden cost of being the woman who can handle everything—and what can happen when we finally let ourselves receive the support we've been so willing to give everybody else. I've learned this in such a deep way over the last few months. I've had to let my team carry things. I've let friends love me. I've let my clients support me. I've asked for help. I've received coaching. And instead of making me less capable, all of that support has given me the energy to come back to my life and my work with so much more to give. Maybe your next season doesn't require more discipline or more effort. Maybe it requires more receiving. So I want you to ask yourself: Where are you currently under-supported? Maybe it's in your marriage or motherhood. Maybe it's your health, your home, your business, your spiritual life, or your emotional life. What are you carrying alone simply because you've decided you should be able to? You don't have to do this alone—even if you can.  In this episode: The hidden cost of always being the capable one Why independence can quietly become part of our identity What I've learned about asking for and receiving help Why women are made for connection and collaboration The difference between competition and truly celebrating another woman How we create belonging instead of waiting to feel like we belong Why receiving support doesn't make you less capable How being supported has changed the way I lead my business and my life The question to ask yourself when you're feeling depleted Why your next level might require more receiving—not more doing Join Life Mentoring School! 410. How to Stop Resisting Your Life & Start Enjoying It!

2026-09-2238:53

Dear ones, today we're talking about one of the sneakiest habits that steals our energy, our creativity, and our sense of enchantment: arguing with reality. But underneath all that resistance is often an emotion we're simply afraid or unwilling to feel. In this episode, I'm sharing what I've learned about dropping resistance, processing our emotions instead of carrying them around with us, and recovering so much faster when life doesn't go according to plan. Because an enchanted life isn't a life without disappointment, grief, fear, or hard things. It's a life where we're willing to experience all of it—and still notice the coffee, the breeze off the lake, the grandbabies, the hint of fall in the air, and the beautiful sweater we're knitting. Maybe the goal isn't to create a life where nothing hard happens. Maybe it's becoming a woman who can hold a bigger, richer, more beautiful life. In this episode, we talk about: The hidden cost of resisting your reality How to recognize when you're arguing with what is Why "should" is often a clue that you're stuck in resistance How unprocessed emotions drain your energy The difference between survival mode and creation mode Why feeling an emotion doesn't mean something has gone wrong How emotional capacity allows you to hold a bigger life Why resisting the painful parts can make us miss the beautiful parts, too How to recover faster when things don't go according to plan The simple question: What do I want to create from here? My invitation for you today is simple: notice where you're resisting your life. Ask yourself what emotion is underneath that resistance. Let yourself feel what's actually there—and then decide what you want to create from here. There's so much beauty waiting for us when we stop arguing with the life we have long enough to actually receive it. 409. The Real Reason You're Disenchanted With Your Life (And How to Break the Spell)

2026-09-1522:05

I had my grandbaby boys, Eli and Noah, this weekend, and watching them, I got reminded of something. Little kids are either completely enchanted with everything or completely disenchanted with everything — there's no in-between. We rode bikes in the rain, ran through mud puddles, played way too many downs of flag football with rules that kept changing, and read Green Eggs and Ham to a five-year-old who could not understand why this man kept getting asked the same question over and over. It made me realize something about why it's so much harder for us as adults to be that easily delighted. It's not because we're broken. It's because our brains are wired for it, and so is the device in our pocket, and so is the culture we're swimming in. Here's what we get into: Why your brain's primary job was never to make you feel enchanted — it's scanning for threats, and it will always give more weight to what's wrong than what's right How the "false self" or ego chimes in on top of that, adding its own list of things to worry about and be afraid of Why the phone in your pocket supercharges all of it, telling you the same story your brain already wants to tell you A practical tool for breaking the spell in the moment — asking what your future, wisest self would say looking back on this Why real enchantment isn't pretending everything is fine or denying real suffering — it's the capacity to stay open and alive to your life even when the hard thing is real You don't have to wait for your circumstances to change to start practicing this. You can start today, just by noticing how often your brain goes looking for the problem instead of the gift. 408. How to Become Enchanted With Your Life (10 Things Enchanting Me Right Now)

2026-09-1037:42

We're kicking off a whole series on the art of enchantment today, and I'm starting with the word itself. It comes from Latin, and at its root, it actually means to sing. That's exactly what I want to be: a woman who still hears the song, who notices the change in the September air, who gets a little obsessed with baby cheeks and poetry and the yarn in her hands. This has been such a hard year for us. And I've learned something true in the middle of it: you can be devastated and still enchanted with your life at the same time. That's not denial. That's emotional wealth. So today, ten things enchanting me right now: My brand new kitchen journal — recipes, handwritten notes, and tiny printed photos of the grandbabies eating whatever I just made My current knitting obsession, a squishy red sweater called the Lakes Jacket by Ozetta Tom's middle school football games, knitting in the stands and hunting down his number for video A new diffuser blend I'm creating, appropriately called Enchanted Reading poetry again — Wendell Berry and Mary Oliver, after Wendell Berry's passing last week Baby cheeks. All six grandbabies' baby cheeks. No further explanation needed The first whisper of fall in the air Being a total beginner at English horseback riding, and loving what that humility teaches me Something brand new I'm creating for the program that I can't fully reveal yet, but that feels like a dream come true My actual, ordinary, everyday life — my porch, my kitchen light in the morning, watching Stevie get stronger If you want to keep being enchanted with me this month, I'm doing Enchantment Diaries on Instagram, documenting all of it in real time. And if this resonates, I'd love for you to join us for our upcoming workshop, The Art of Enchantment: How to Make the Last 90 Days of the Year Matter, September 23–25 at noon Eastern. 407. Your Enchanted Life (How to Turn the Raw Materials of Your Life into a Masterpiece)

2026-09-0357:30

Today's episode is a masterclass I taught live, and I recorded it the day after we lost Dolly Parton. If you hear extra emotion in my voice, that's why. She was the queen of my heart, and it turns out her whole life was the perfect example of everything I wanted to teach that day. Dolly took the raw materials she was born with — poverty, a huge family, a mountain nobody thought much of — and turned them into the most gorgeous, generous life anybody's ever lived. And I think most of us are waiting for better materials before we start creating ours. Here's what we get into: Why so many of us are waiting for different circumstances — more money, a different body, a more supportive spouse — before we let ourselves start creating a beautiful life The shift from a life of consumption to a life of creation, and the one powerful question that makes that shift: what can I make from this? Why even the hardest color you've ever been handed (for me, this year, that was cancer) can become raw material for something beautiful The seven skills I believe every woman needs to build a genuine masterpiece of her life — including how to create possibility in your mind, how to build emotional wealth, how to stay with yourself in the messy middle, and how to live enchanted right now instead of waiting for someday Why good intentions were never going to be enough for Dolly, or for you — these are skills you learn and practice, not just things some women are naturally born with You don't have to know what the whole blanket is going to look like before you learn how to knit. You just have to be willing to learn the skills. 406. Real Coaches, Real Stories: A Coach Panel from the Next Level Life Summit

2026-08-271:05:21

Today's episode is a little different. We're sharing a coach panel recorded during our Next Level Life Summit, where several of our House of Joy certified coaches got completely honest about what it actually looked like to say yes to certification. You'll meet Angela, Michelle, Becky, Susan, Shannon, and Jamie — a teacher, a hairstylist and salon owner, a homeschool mom, an author and podcaster, and more. Every one of them said yes in a season that looked nothing like the "right time." Here's what we get into: The real fears almost every one of them named before signing up — money, timing, whether their husband would be on board The seasons of life they were actually walking through when they said yes — cancer and remission, empty nesting, the loss of a child, menopause, financial strain Why this was never really about becoming a coach — it's about becoming the woman your next season is asking you to become The "go first" principle, and why you can't hand someone a tool you haven't used on yourself Specific transformation stories — Angela's relationship with her teenage son, Michelle learning to actually feel her emotions instead of just thinking about them, Susan's breakthrough with true self vs. false self, and Shannon's healing in her marriage after the loss of her son Ethan Why so many of them now see the investment differently — not as an expense, but as something that keeps paying them back What makes this community different from anything else they've been part of What they're each doing with their certification now — one-on-one coaching, group programs, a paid counseling role at a church, books, blogs, even a podcast If you've ever wondered whether it's too late, too expensive, or too much to invest in yourself, I think this conversation is going to be such an encouragement to you. 405. Stop Postponing Your Life: 5 Things I Learned From the Hardest—and Richest—Season of My Life

2026-08-2520:14

We just came back from a weekend that didn't look impressive on paper. No trip, no big event. Just a porch, a sleeping baby upstairs, and Stevie back up on the wake surf board for the first time since his surgery, already trying a 360 within 45 seconds of getting up. And sitting there, I kept thinking: this is the life. This year handed us something we never would have ordered. But I've learned so much these last few months about what it means to stop waiting for the hard part to be over before you let yourself actually live. Here's what this season taught me: Stop waiting for certainty to feel alive — uncertainty and a full, beautiful life are allowed to coexist Stop letting the hardest thing become the whole thing — ask yourself, what else is here besides this? Stop waiting for your life to calm down before you let it be good — hard and beautiful get to be the same season Stop confusing your circumstances with your emotional power — your circumstances are the raw material, not the boss Stop preparing for your life and start becoming the woman who can actually live it Life gives you the raw material. You get to write the story. So decide today that you're going to stop postponing yours. 404. I Said Yes to Myself: An Interview with Skye Lamont

2026-08-2048:54

Today I'm sharing a conversation that stayed with me long after we hit stop recording. Skye Lamont has been in Life Mentoring School for under a year, and before that she'd already been a certified life coach since 2002. She's also a fantasy novelist with seven completed books, and for years she believed she could only really pursue one calling at a time — the writer or the coach, never both. This conversation is about what happened when she stopped believing that. Here they are: How the creation cycle helped Skye uncover a decades-old, sneaky thought quietly running underneath her marriage — the belief that she'd picked the wrong husband Why so many women, especially in midlife, live from an "either/or" belief about their gifts — and what changed when Skye started practicing "and" instead The real story behind why she stayed off social media for eight years, and what it took for her to finally start a YouTube channel Why the biggest surprise of coach certification wasn't learning to coach other people — it was learning to "go first" and do the work on herself What made this community different from every other coaching certification she's done, and why she says you don't get the full benefit of the work without it Her encouragement for any woman who feels made for more but hasn't taken the leap yet "I said yes to becoming a coach and getting certified. But what I really said yes to was myself." 403. 10 House Rules for Living Well (A Peek Into the House of Joy Week)

2026-08-1116:42

Did you know the House of Joy has actual house rules? A book landed in my mailbox this week called House Rules, and at the very same time we were gearing up for our Week in the House of Joy — and the two collided in this episode. So here they are. Ten house rules that make life better, whether it's an ordinary Tuesday or something much harder. Here they are: We don't wait for special occasions — use the china, buy the flowers, wear the good PJs, now All feelings are allowed here — the goal isn't to feel good all the time, it's to feel anything without abandoning yourself We tell good stories — the circumstance doesn't get the final say on the story you tell about it We make things beautiful on purpose — even hospital rooms, even hard seasons We're always making something — creating moves you out of survival mode and into a life you're actually building We take care of the woman who lives here — sleep, movement, nourishment, friends, prayer, margin We take our fun very seriously — dancing, boat rides, tiny ice cream cones on a regular Saturday We ask ourselves, what would be amazing? — tapping into desire instead of just what needs to be done Everybody who comes through the door gets to belong — even when they believe or live differently than you do We leave the door open — because your house of joy was never meant to be just for you Your house of joy was never meant to be just for you. 402. Why You Feel Behind, Broke, or Stuck (And What To Do About It) — Best of House of Joy // RE-RELEASE

2026-07-2836:00

This is a Best of House of Joy rerelease — one of our most downloaded episodes from the past year, and with August coming up soon (fresh starts, new rhythms, back-to-school energy), it felt like the perfect time to bring it back around. Scarcity doesn't always look like money. Most of the time, it's hiding in your thoughts about your time, your relationships, your pace, your worth — quietly draining your energy without you even realizing it's there. In this episode, I'm walking through five sneaky scarcity thoughts almost all of us think without noticing, and what abundance actually sounds like instead. Here they are: "I'm always behind" — and why this thought quietly keeps you stuck and paralyzed instead of moving you forward "I don't have enough time" — and the difference between chronos time and kairos time (and how to collapse time instead of losing it) "I don't follow through" — and why looking for evidence of the opposite changes everything "It's too late for me" — and why so many of the most successful people didn't even start until midlife "I need to see proof before I believe" — and why belief has to come before the results, not after Abundance, in the end, is just faith. Faith that you're provided for, that you're supported, that your best days aren't behind you — they're still coming. 401. The Invisible Architecture of a Beautiful Life

2026-07-2117:59

There's an old story about three bricklayers. A traveler stops and asks the first one what he's doing. Without looking up, he says, "I'm laying bricks." He asks the second, and gets, "I'm building a wall." But the third one — same bricks, same mortar, same hot sun — says, "I'm building a cathedral." Eyes sparkling. We're all laying bricks every single day. Laundry, meals, conversations, rhythms. The question is whether we know what we're actually building. In this episode, I'm walking through seven invisible, unseen pieces of architecture that build a genuinely beautiful life — and it's probably not what you think. Here they are: Why your daily rhythms are quietly building your identity, one small decision at a time Why beauty isn't superficial — it's how God designed the world, and how your nervous system knows it's safe Why creating more than you consume matters, even in the smallest ways Why the words you speak build the emotional atmosphere of your whole life Why hospitality starts with your own nervous system, not your centerpieces Why play might be one of the most spiritual things you do Why faith means remembering it was never all up to you in the first place You're not just laying bricks today. You're building something — whether you mean to or not. So what are you building? 400. 5 Things Birth Week Taught Me About Loving Well

2026-07-1428:40

Last week I got to witness one of the greatest gifts of my life: the birth of my sixth grandbaby, sweet Ellie Jo. Watching my daughter Emme become a mother—and watching everyone around her show up to love her so well—taught me more about love than almost anything else could. In this episode, I'm sharing five things birth week reminded me about how to really love the people in your life, especially when things get hard, unpredictable, or emotional. Why loving people well starts with choosing the highest thoughts you can believe Why emotional capacity is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and others Why the best helpers don't need to be the hero Why speaking life over the people you love matters more than you know Why the holiest work often looks completely ordinary Whether you're welcoming a new baby, walking through something hard like we are right now, or simply loving the people in front of you today—I hope this conversation is an encouragement to you. 399. How to Find Rest for Your Soul (Even When Life Feels Heavy)

2026-07-0717:02

399. How to Find Rest for Your Soul (Even When Life Feels Heavy) One of the greatest gifts God has been teaching me lately is this: Life can be heavy without becoming unbearable. This conversation came after one of those days where Stevie and I had a really hard conversation sitting in the middle of the lake…and then we surfed afterward. It felt strange at first, almost like we shouldn't be allowed to laugh after crying. But maybe that's exactly what Jesus meant when He said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He doesn't always remove the hard thing. He carries the weight of it with us. If you've been carrying around tomorrow's worries, living under the weight of uncertainty, or feeling like your soul is just tired, I hope this episode reminds you that rest isn't the absence of burdens. It's trusting that you don't have to carry them alone. In this episode we talk about: What "rest for your soul" actually means Jesus' invitation to carry life's burdens differently Holding grief and joy at the same time Why fun isn't something you earn Finding renewal in ordinary moments Practical rhythms that help lighten your emotional load The importance of creating beauty even in difficult seasons Want to live with more energy, joy and abundance? 398. Your Brain Needs a Summer Job (Or It'll Create One)

2026-06-3018:06

Your brain was designed to solve problems. But if you don't intentionally give it something meaningful to focus on, it will create problems where none need to exist. In this episode, Dr. Edie Wadsworth shares why creating something beautiful—even during difficult seasons—can completely change the way you experience your life. From knitting a sweater through hospital waiting rooms to planting tomatoes, learning new skills, and setting simple 90-day goals, this conversation is an invitation to stop letting your brain default to criticism and instead give it something life-giving to build. If you've been overthinking, worrying, criticizing yourself, or feeling stuck, this episode is the gentle reset your mind may need. Why your brain naturally looks for problems How criticism becomes your brain's default when it lacks purpose Why creating beauty is a powerful antidote to anxiety The story behind Edie's beloved Frankie Sweater Why 90-day goals work so well Simple ideas to create a more magical summer How to redirect your mind toward what matters most https://www.ediewadsworthcoaching.com/bundle  ➡️ Link in show notes Receive 50% off your first order: hiyahealth.com/HOUSEOFJOY  In this episode, you'll learn:Links MentionedDesign Your Life, Live Your Purpose 90-Day GuideHiya Health Learn more about your ad choices. 397. Love as Your True Identity (Not Just Something You Do)

2026-06-2542:36

397. Love as Your True Identity (Not Just Something You Do) One of the biggest misconceptions about personal growth is that it's all about becoming more productive, more successful, or more accomplished. But what if the real goal is becoming more loving? In this episode, I'm sharing a special teaching from inside Life Mentoring School about what it really means to live from your true self. When we begin receiving God's love instead of striving to earn it, everything changes—from the way we see ourselves to the way we show up in our relationships, our homes, and even the ordinary moments of everyday life. We also talk about why love isn't pretending everything is okay. True love is willing to feel deeply, tell the truth, grieve honestly, and still hold onto hope. I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down, soften your heart, and remember who you already are. Why love is the highest expression of your true self The difference between living from fear and living from love How your "ordinary Tuesday" reveals what you're really practicing Why vulnerability is essential for authentic love Learning to create from desire instead of resentment What it means to nurture the people and places God has entrusted to you How to see beauty and hope even in difficult seasons In this episode, we talk about: Learn more about your ad choices. 396. Build Your House of Joy: The Tiny Decisions That Create a Beautiful Life!

2026-06-2317:18

A few years ago, I taught a podcast episode called How I Created My House of Joy. At the time, I had no idea that phrase would eventually become the name of this podcast—or the framework that would shape so much of what I teach. Because here's what I've come to believe: We're all building a house. Not just the physical place where we live, but the life we're living inside of every day. The question is: Are we building it on purpose? In this episode, we're talking about the foundations that create the experience of your life—and how your thoughts, emotions, habits, and daily decisions are shaping your future whether you realize it or not. If you've ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or disappointed with where you are, I hope this conversation reminds you that your story isn't finished. You can start rebuilding today. 395. 20 Ridiculous Hills We're Willing to Die On!

2026-06-1843:15

This episode is completely unserious... and maybe our most controversial one yet. Today we're sharing 20 ridiculous hills we're willing to die on—from overhead lights and matching hangers to fish, airport outfits, sunscreen, camping, butter, knitting, scary movies, and everything in between. Some of these opinions are deeply held. Some are probably wrong. And some we may completely change our minds about next year. But for today? We said what we said. 394. From Miserable to Magical: The Art of Leading Yourself Well

2026-06-1619:48

What if your life isn't waiting for better circumstances? What if it's waiting for better leadership? After spending a weekend with hundreds of incredible women at our live event, I was reminded again and again that transformation happens when we stop drifting through life and start leading ourselves intentionally. In this episode, we're talking about the difference between living from old stories, fear, and survival mode—and living from joy, desire, purpose, and possibility. Because here's what I know: You don't need a different life to feel more alive. You need a different way of experiencing the life you already have. Why so many women feel stuck in their own lives The difference between drifting and self-leadership How your brain keeps you trapped in old stories Why your emotions are messengers—not masters The power of living from your true self How fear keeps you disconnected from what you really want Why your desires matter more than you think The surprising connection between joy and grief How to create a life that feels magical in any season Why your best season may still be ahead of you Your Most Magical Summer 👉 ediewadsworthcoaching.com/summer  In This EpisodeLinks MentionedFree Workshop Learn more about your ad choices. 392. Stop Waiting to Enjoy Your Life! Why Summer Matters More Than You Think

2026-06-0921:03

This week, I found myself sitting beside my Aunt Glenda—a woman who has spent her entire life bringing joy, laughter, and life to everyone around her. As our family gathered together during a difficult season, she reminded me of something I think we all need to hear: Life is happening right now. Not after the diagnosis. Not after the weight loss. Not after the kids grow up. Not after things settle down. Right now. In this episode, I share some of the lessons Aunt Glenda taught us this week (including a hospice wolf-cut haircut, smokey eyes, and a search for the perfect sequin dress), and why I believe so many of us are unintentionally postponing our own joy. Summer has a way of waking us up to what matters. And maybe this summer can be your invitation to stop waiting and start living. Why so many women postpone joy The dangerous habit of saying "I'll enjoy life when..." Lessons from Aunt Glenda's beautiful perspective on life Finding delight in the middle of uncertainty Why joy is what carries us through hard seasons The connection between gratitude and truly living Creating a magical summer no matter your circumstances Learning to notice the miracles already around you How to stop waiting for life to begin Why summer is about so much more than a season Free 3-Day Workshop 👉 https://ediewadsworthcoaching.com/summer  (Workbook mailed to you + lifetime replay access) Link available through workshop registration page. 2026-06-0440:23

How do you stay grounded when life feels beautiful and hard at the same time? Because if we're honest, this season has held both. There has been so much joy, so much laughter, so many moments we never want to forget. And there have also been tears, uncertainty, overstimulation, and the reality of walking through something we never would have chosen. In this episode, we're talking about how we want to show up in seasons like these. How do we keep our hearts soft instead of becoming bitter? How do we stay open to the miracles, the goodness, and the love that are still right in front of us? How do we create a beautiful life even when life isn't going according to plan? We share some of what we're learning about intention, presence, grief, gratitude, and why we believe you can still have a magical summer—even if life feels messy right now. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stretched thin, emotional, or like life is moving faster than you can keep up with, we hope this conversation feels like sitting on the porch with friends. 389. The Voice in Your Head Is Shaping Your Life!

2026-05-2835:51

Today we’re talking about the voice in your head — that constant inner dialogue that most of us hardly even notice anymore. The criticism. The pressure. The negativity. The harshness we often direct toward ourselves without realizing how deeply it affects the way we experience our lives… and the people around us. One of the things we talk about in this episode is how our thoughts become the emotional atmosphere we live in. And not only that — they spill over into our homes, our marriages, our friendships, and the way our children learn to think about themselves too. This isn’t about shame or “fixing yourself.” It’s about becoming aware with compassion. It’s about noticing the patterns that no longer serve you and learning how to renew your mind with more grace, gratitude, truth, and peace. We also talk about: why negative thinking becomes so automatic how criticism toward others often reflects criticism toward ourselves the emotional “tone” we bring into a room motherhood, nervous systems, and emotional regulation practical ways to shift your mindset why gratitude changes everything learning to agree with God about who you are This one feels deeply important and deeply hopeful. You are not stuck with the voice in your head. You can practice a gentler, truer way of living. We love you so much and are so grateful you’re here. ✨ Learn more about your ad choices. 388. The Life You’re Meant to Live Starts with One Brave Yes!

2026-05-211:05:03

This episode is such a special one. A few weeks ago, we hosted our Next Level Life Summit and opened enrollment for our Christian Life Coach Certification program. During the summit, I sat down with several of the amazing women from our coaching community for a live panel conversation… and after we finished, I knew I wanted to share it here on the podcast too. Because honestly? This conversation became about so much more than coaching. It became about courage. About purpose. About midlife reinvention. About healing. About becoming more fully alive to your own life. These women share so honestly about: feeling restless and called to more overcoming fear and self-doubt finding confidence later in life balancing family, motherhood, marriage, and meaningful work learning to trust God with the next step and discovering that it’s never too late to create a beautiful life I think you’ll hear pieces of yourself in this conversation no matter what season you’re in. 379. This Is Why Your Life Isn’t Changing (It’s Not What You Think)

2026-04-2126:12

What if the reason you’re not getting the results you want… has nothing to do with your circumstances? In this episode, I’m sharing one of the most powerful concepts I’ve ever practiced and taught—how your internal state (your thoughts, emotions, and energy) is shaping everything in your life. After a transformative weekend at our House of Joy coaches retreat, I saw this truth more clearly than ever: it’s not what’s happening around you—it’s who you’re being within it. Even in the middle of hard things, you can choose a different way of showing up. This episode will gently challenge how you think about change—and invite you into a more peaceful, powerful way of living. We talk about: Why most of us believe external things need to change first How your emotional state shapes your entire life experience The difference between living in: Fear, shame, anxiety (low-energy states) Love, joy, peace, gratitude (high-energy states) How your nervous system plays into this (fight-or-flight vs. rest-and-trust) Why being around people who live at a higher level is so powerful How your “energetic signature” impacts your relationships, your work, and your results 📍 Mentioned: Dr. David Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness- https://a.co/d/0eqs43Sw  Next Level Life Coaching Summit-  Learn more about your ad choices. In this short but powerful episode, I’m sharing one of my favorite frameworks I teach inside Life Mentoring School: the 3-part code of your highest self. We’re talking about how to shift your thoughts, create your emotional life on purpose, and take aligned action—so you can start showing up as the version of you who already lives the life you want. In this episode, we’re talking about how to romanticize your life in real, tangible ways—not by pretending everything is perfect, but by bringing intention and presence to what already is. Here are a few of the little things currently bringing me so much life: Travel knitting (yes, I cast on a whole sweater just for the trip ✨) Coordinated retreat goodies + planning meaningful experiences Self-coaching + journaling through hard moments My favorite oversized linen shirt (truly perfect for everything) Knitting baby bonnets for my grandbabies  Porch swing time with my grandboys Being outside as much as possible The joy of preparing for a trip Staying consistent with movement, even in a hard season We also talk about: Why you don’t need different circumstances to enjoy your life How small moments shape your overall experience Creating peace and intention—even in the middle of uncertainty 📖 Mentioned: Practicing the Presence of People by Mike Mason Learn more about your ad choices. 376. 5 “Weird” Things We Did as a Family (That I’m Now So Grateful For)

2026-04-0943:01

This episode is a little different… and so much fun. Today Emme and I are sitting down for a lighthearted conversation about the “weird” things we did as a family growing up—things she definitely didn’t love at the time 😅 But here’s the funny part… She’s starting to do a lot of them now. We talk about: Growing up in an “ingredient household” (and why that actually mattered) Why I made the girls do daily “rest time” (and why they’d bring it back!) Our stance on sleepovers—and how it shaped safety and connection Driving an hour to church every single Sunday for 20 years Creating a home that felt joyful, colorful, and a little unconventional And underneath all the laughter, there’s something deeper: The rhythms and traditions you create in your home matter more than you think. Even the ones your kids roll their eyes at 😉 Because one day… they might just carry them into their own lives. This one is cozy, funny, and full of heart—and I think you’ll see a little bit of your own family in it too. Mentioned in this episode! 375. What This Sweater Taught Me About Hard Seasons, Growth & Receiving Support

2026-04-0721:10

This is a short episode, but it carries a lot of heart. Today I’m telling you a story about a sweater… but really, it’s a story about growth, hard seasons, and who we’re becoming in the middle of it all. I started a knitting project that I definitely was not ready for. At first glance, it felt overwhelming—too complicated, too intricate, too much. And honestly? That’s exactly how some seasons of life feel. But slowly, with patience, help, and a whole lot of staying with it, something shifted. In this episode, we talk about: Why hard seasons often feel like “too much” at first How growth happens through staying, not rushing The beauty of learning something you once thought you couldn’t do Why the hard things in your life may be forming something in you The powerful (and often overlooked) practice of receiving support How to recognize the love and help that’s already surrounding you One of the biggest lessons I’m learning right now is this: You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to stay. And maybe—just maybe—this season is teaching you something you’ll carry for the rest of your life. I love you so much. I’m so grateful you’re here. 374. If You Feel Far from God: Finding Him in the Middle of Hard Seasons!

2026-04-0231:41

This episode is a really special one. We’re sitting down during Holy Week, in the middle of a season that has felt both beautiful and incredibly hard for our family. And we wanted to just have an honest, heartfelt conversation about what it’s like when life feels heavy… and God feels far. Because if you’ve ever been there (and I think we all have), you know how disorienting it can feel. In this episode, we talk about: Why hard seasons can make God feel distant—even when He’s not The very real emotions that come up (anger, grief, confusion… all of it) How God meets us through people, small moments, and everyday grace The spiritual rhythms that have grounded our family for years Why you don’t need a “perfect” faith routine to feel close to God How suffering can open our eyes to what really matters One of the biggest things I’ve been reminded of in this season is this: You don’t have to strive to find God. He is already with you. Sometimes it just looks like noticing Him in the smallest places—a prayer before dinner, a Sunday drive to church, a kind text from a friend, or even a sweater you’ve carried through hard days. If you’re in a season where things feel uncertain or heavy, I hope this episode feels like a deep breath… and a reminder that you are held. We love you so much. Truly. 373. 7 Signs You’re Living From Your Ego (And How to Come Back to Your True Self)

2026-03-3117:26

This is one of those episodes that might make you pause and think… oh wow, that’s me. And I just want you to know—this comes with so much love. Today we’re talking about something that affects every single one of us: the difference between living from your ego (false self) and living from your true self. Most of us learned, without even realizing it, how to live in survival mode—how to protect ourselves, perform, compare, and prove. But that way of living? It’s exhausting. And the beautiful truth is… it’s not how you were created to live. In this episode, I walk you through 7 signs you might be living from your ego, including: Constantly feeling evaluated or self-conscious Getting defensive or over-explaining Living with pressure and urgency Comparing yourself to others Struggling to receive love or compliments Avoiding discomfort and playing small Feeling disconnected from yourself And then we talk about what to do next—how to gently come back to the version of you that is: grounded, loved, peaceful, and whole. This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about coming home to who you already are. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

372. The Freedom of Being Who God Created You to Be with Susan Shull

2026-03-2650:23

What if the freedom you’re looking for isn’t found in becoming someone new—but in finally becoming who you already are? I’m joined by the incredible Susan Shull—someone who so beautifully embodies what it means to live as your true self—and we’re diving into one of the most important conversations we have inside Life Mentoring School. If you’ve ever felt like you’re trying to fit in… If you’ve found yourself constantly comparing… If you’ve wondered, “Who am I really, underneath all of this?”… This conversation is for you. Susan shares her journey from people pleasing and seeking approval to discovering a deeper, more grounded identity rooted in who God says she is. And let me tell you—it’s not about becoming someone new. It’s about waking up to who you’ve been all along. We talk about: The difference between your true self and false self Why comparison keeps you stuck (even when you “know better”) How confidence is actually rooted in identity—not ego The small, brave “yeses” that change everything What it looks like to live your life from love instead of fear One of my favorite parts of this conversation is the reminder that this isn’t a one-time transformation—it’s a daily practice. A coming back. A remembering. And the freedom on the other side? It changes everything. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

371. Living Well in Uncertainty: Finding Peace When You Don’t Know What’s Next!

2026-03-2421:12

I’m coming to you from a tender, uncertain season—one where I don’t have all the answers and can’t quite map out the next 90 days the way I normally would. And if you’ve ever walked through something like that, you know how disorienting it can feel. But even here… there is still so much goodness. In this episode, I’m sharing what’s been anchoring me lately—the thoughts, practices, and gentle shifts that are helping me stay grounded, present, and connected to joy, even when life feels uncertain. We talk about: What to do when you can’t “plan” your next season How to focus on what is certain when everything feels unknown Choosing who you want to be, even when circumstances are shaky Giving yourself compassion instead of pressure Why continuing to create (in small ways) can be so healing Staying open to joy, beauty, and tiny miracles right now Simple, powerful thoughts to anchor you in hard seasons If you’re feeling a little tender… a little out of sorts… or like life isn’t unfolding the way you expected—this is for you. You are not alone. And there is still so much life available to you right here. Also—Life Mentoring School is open right now, and we’re heading into one of my favorite seasons inside the program. 370. The Glow Up That Starts From the Inside Out // Best of 2025

2026-03-1948:40

Hi, dear ones — Today I’m bringing back one of my favorite conversations from last year, all about the kind of glow up that really matters — the one that starts on the inside. In this episode, Emme and I talk about beauty, style, skincare, confidence, and the things that truly make a woman magnetic. And while we do share some fun favorites along the way, what we really get into is this: the most powerful transformation doesn’t come from a product, a trend, or a perfect outfit. It comes from the work you do in your heart, your mind, and your everyday life. We talk about what it means to care for yourself well, how your emotional and mental health show up on your face and in your presence, and why real beauty has so much more to do with joy, confidence, and authenticity than anything external. In this episode, we chat about: Why the biggest glow up starts from the inside out The difference between outer beauty and true magnetism How joy, healing, and emotional health change the way you look and feel The kind of presence that lights up a room Taking care of your skin and body in a nourishing, realistic way Personal style as self-expression and confidence Some of our favorite skincare, fashion, and glow-up staples from last year This one originally aired last year, but the message still feels so timely and so worth revisiting. I hope it encourages you to care for yourself deeply, to honor the season you’re in, and to remember that your most radiant self is never about perfection — it’s about becoming more fully who God created you to be. 369. 4 Anchors That Will Carry You Through Hard Seasons!

2026-03-1719:53

This episode is a little different than usual. The last couple of weeks have been some of the hardest our family has faced. We recently received news that will likely change the next several months of our lives and will involve treatments, medical decisions, and a lot of unknowns. I’m not quite ready to share all the details yet because some of it is still unfolding and involves people I love dearly. But I felt like I wanted to come on and share the anchors that have been holding me steady in this season. Because what I’ve experienced in the middle of this hard moment is something surprising: deep peace, gratitude, and even joy. Not because the situation is easy — but because the tools, faith, and practices I’ve been cultivating for years are carrying me through in ways I never could have imagined. So today I’m sharing four anchors that have helped me navigate one of the hardest seasons of my life. We talk about: Deciding who you want to be in hard seasons Why your brain naturally scans for fear (and how to widen your gaze) Learning to notice tiny miracles even when life feels heavy Allowing yourself to feel every emotion without being ruled by them How faith and community become lifelines when things feel uncertain Why joy can still exist in the middle of pain One of the biggest things I’ve realized in the last two weeks is this: We don’t get to choose many of the circumstances that come into our lives. But we do get to choose how we show up inside them. And the tools we talk about here at House of Joy — mindset, emotional capacity, faith, presence — matter most when life isn’t going the way we planned. If you’re walking through a hard season right now, I hope this episode feels like a gentle companion. And if you feel led, I would deeply appreciate your prayers for our family as we step into the unknown in the weeks ahead. I love you all so much. Thank you for being here. 368. Building a Life & Business with Courage, Community, and Purpose with Jessica Honegger, Founder of Noonday Collection

2026-03-1256:22

Today on the podcast, I’m joined by Jessica Honegger, founder of Noonday Collection, and I cannot tell you how much I loved this conversation. I’ve been wearing and loving Noonday pieces for years, so getting to sit down with Jessica and talk about the heart behind what she’s built felt extra special. We talk about what it really looks like to build something meaningful over the long haul — not just the pretty, polished parts, but the inner work, the risk, the resilience, and the courage it takes to stay when things get hard. Jessica shares the story of how Noonday began, how motherhood and entrepreneurship collided in those early years, and what she means when she talks about “doing the work.” We talk about naming the stories we carry, building real community, letting ourselves be seen, and learning how to keep going with honesty and heart. We also talk about: how shame and secrecy keep women stuck why being witnessed in safe community is so healing the emotional and spiritual formation that happens through entrepreneurship the difference between being a starter and becoming a stayer what it looks like to build a business that reflects your values why creating beauty, opportunity, and connection matters so much And of course… we had to talk style too. We chat about Noonday’s newest collection, favorite statement pieces, travel style, and the shoes we’d wear to Italy and Greece. This one is full of wisdom, honesty, and so much inspiration for any woman who wants to build something beautiful — whether that’s a business, a family, a community, or simply a more courageous life. I hope you love this conversation as much as I did. 367. I’m Becoming My Mother (And Honestly… I Love It)

2026-03-0556:54

Today is a special, extra-fun episode because Emme and I are literally twinning (matching sets, matching Uggs… the whole thing). And it felt like the perfect day to talk about a theme that keeps popping up in our lives lately: “I’m becoming my mother.” Emme is in her becoming a mother era (baby girl on the way!), and I’m in my becoming a Grammy who knits baby bonnets era… so naturally, this conversation turned into a funny, tender, unexpectedly meaningful reflection on what we inherit, what we emulate, and what we choose to do differently. We talk about: The moment Emme got ready for church and her husband said, “You literally look exactly like your mom.” 😂 How we change as we age—from FOMO to JOMO (the joy of missing out) What it’s like when your home becomes your favorite place to be The beautiful parts of family legacy (and the parts we want to rewrite) Why “becoming your mother” can be a gift… even if your relationship with your mom is complicated The kind of women (and communities) that make you feel seen, cared for, and fed—in every sense of the word We also share some cozy-life favorites at the end: what we’re listening to, what we’re making, what we’re reading, and a few things that are bringing us joy right now. If this episode brings up tenderness for you—whether you’re grateful for your mom, grieving what you didn’t get, or trying to choose a new story for your own family—just know this: you’re allowed to take the good, heal what hurt, and create something beautiful from here. You don’t have to repeat the past unconsciously. You get to choose what you carry forward. 💛 What we wore / style: Matching loungewear set from Aerie  Pants: https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/clothing/loungewear/offline-by-aerie-ott-fleece-super-wide-leg-pant/1703_1248_012?menu=cat1090003&ip=off&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_content=aerie&utm_campaign=nogender_bottoms_general&utm_term=nonbrand&utm_id=20001158336&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20001158336&gbraid=0AAAAADovoqLjtv7rK5koJ0J2dWjcJGF36&gclid=CjwKCAiAzZ_NBhAEEiwAMtqKy6wNdP7bsMjKrLVZlefMn_ZSRwfY7tpj6mHubROXUWKaVDY4N9DSUBoCFXQQAvD_BwE Sweatshirt: https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/clearance/clothing/tops/sweatshirts-hoodies/offline-by-aerie-ott-seamed-quarter-zip-sweatshirt/2164_2141_012  Food + kitchen fun: Salt & Straw Ice Cream Cookbook: https://a.co/d/0huVEwqh  Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker: https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/cuisinart-stainless-steel-electric-ice-cream-maker/?catalogId=79&sku=1347889&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Electrics%20%3E%20Ice%20Cream%20%26%20Gelato%20Makers&cm_ite=1347889_23617611785_aud-946744288042:pla-1418851112821&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23617611785&gbraid=0AAAAADrs9cHz3avoBHkGpnX6Aj0f9Laau&gclid=CjwKCAiAzZ_NBhAEEiwAMtqKy93QoeScTXkSehwqb0J8dmFdtAajk4iEV4dBJdUSpZwIrhC2I48e4RoCzJQQAvD_BwE  Books: How to Get Anything You Want by Elsie Lincoln Benedict (audiobook) https://a.co/d/01VcpoS6  🔗 LINKS & THINGS WE MENTIONED  Learn more about your ad choices. 366. The Confidence Code: 4 Identity Shifts That Change Everything

2026-03-0342:40

Hi dear ones 💛 This episode is so special because I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes teaching from our spring workshop, The Confidence Code — and truly, this work has changed my life. If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought, “I don’t even know her anymore…” If you’ve felt your spark dim. If you’ve wondered whether your best days are behind you. This is for you. In this teaching, I walk you through four identity shifts that helped me step out of survival mode and into a life filled with energy, joy, purpose, and presence. I share vulnerably about: Watching old videos of myself from 8–11 years ago and barely recognizing that tired, inflamed, joyless version of me Walking through anxiety, depression, perimenopause, weight gain, and the aftermath of our house fire The decision I made to shift my identity from the inside out And how that decision led to: Writing a book Building two thriving businesses Healing my marriage Adopting our son Reclaiming my spark If you’re ready to reconnect with your voice, your identity, and the highest version of yourself that God created, I would absolutely love to see you inside The Confidence Code workshop. We’re also doing a special style mini-series inside the workshop — including: A closet tour A capsule wardrobe planning session for my upcoming Mediterranean trip Behind-the-scenes identity work expressed through style You can join us through the link in the show notes. You are not stuck. You are not behind. And your spark is not gone. 365. The Art of Restarting: How to Begin Again Without Shame!

2026-02-2640:38

Today we are talking about something every human needs: the art of restarting. Because let’s be honest… most of us aren’t struggling with starting—we’re struggling with what happens after we fall off. If you’ve ever had a great routine going and then life happened… if you’ve ever told yourself “I’m just not consistent,” or “I always quit,” this episode is for you. We’re reframing restarting as a skill, a mindset, and honestly… a superpower. Why restarting feels emotional (and why that’s normal) The “three-month struggle bus” — when motivation wears off and the real work begins How shame turns one missed day into one missed month Why you’re never restarting from zero How to build a “restart fast” identity (playful, simple, no drama) Why the story you tell yourself (“I’m not good at this”) becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy How to increase desire and make your goals exciting again (yes… sometimes it’s the new shoes 😅) The hidden cost of overthinking: how mental spirals take more energy than doing the thing Mom restarting knitting (again and again) and why it finally stuck this time Dad restarting golf after years away — and why that’s actually so inspiring Emmy restarting decorating/creating a home and learning not to give up mid-process Pregnancy routines, changing energy levels, and learning to restart with grace The magic isn’t in never falling off. The magic is in how quickly you come back. Restarting isn’t proof you’re failing— it’s proof you care… and you’re still in the game. What’s one thing you want to restart this week—without shame? One walk. One prayer. One nourishing meal. One page. One tiny step. And celebrate it. Every row. Every rep. Every restart. 364. The Year We Stop Dressing Small: Style, Identity & Becoming Your Most Magnetic Self!

2026-02-2424:34

Today we’re talking about something that might sound light — but is actually deeply meaningful. We’re talking about style. Not trends. Not fast fashion. Not “what’s in.” But identity. Presence. Expression. Becoming. I truly believe 2026 is the year we stop dressing small. In this episode, I share what’s been stirring in me as I plan my capsule wardrobe for our Mediterranean trip (Greece + Italy, here we come!) — and how this whole process has reminded me that confidence doesn’t live in your closet. Style is not about copying someone else’s aesthetic. It’s about asking: Who am I becoming? How do I want to feel when I walk into a room? What energy do I want to bring? We talk about: Why Lent isn’t about shrinking your life — but about stripping away what dulls you The emotional power of color and texture How midlife can tempt us to mute ourselves Why maximalist energy feels like a homecoming for me The difference between buying outfits and developing style And how a simple closet edit can wake you back up An invitation to: ✨ Stop apologizing ✨ Stop shrinking ✨ Stop dressing for who you were ✨ And step into your most alive, magnetic self Because the world doesn’t need a quieter version of you. It needs the truest version of you. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
