Church Hurt is Real...But then What?
CHURCH HURT IS REAL… BUT YOU CAN’T STAY THERE! 💔➡️🙏🏽 | Let’s Be Holy for RealHave you ever been hurt by someone in the church? Betrayed by someone you trusted? Disappointed by a church leader? Or wounded in the very place where you expected to experience God's love?Church hurt is real. But what happens AFTER the hurt?In this powerful and transparent episode of Let’s Be Holy for Real, Stephanie and Erica Juel tackle a difficult but necessary conversation about church hurt, offense, forgiveness, leadership, and what it takes to move forward without allowing bitterness to take root in our hearts. We acknowledge the pain. We make room for the tears. We talk about the difficult questions: What do you do when the hurt comes from a pastor or church leader? When should you address the situation, and when should you pray and allow God to lead? Does every painful church experience mean it's time to leave? And how do you continue to trust God when the people who hurt you claim to represent Him?Through personal experiences, honest reflection, and biblical examples like Joseph, we explore how to process hurt without becoming bound by it. We discuss the importance of seeking God before reacting emotionally, walking in forgiveness without pretending the pain never happened, and recognizing that our relationship with Christ must remain greater than our disappointment in people.Let's be clear: Moving forward does not mean excusing wrongdoing, minimizing your pain, or pretending everything is okay. It means refusing to let what happened to you have the final say over who you become.Sometimes, the next step is a conversation. Sometimes, it's an apology. Sometimes, it's prayer, accountability, healthy boundaries, or recognizing that it may be time to walk away. Discernment matters, and every situation deserves wisdom.Because church hurt may be part of your story, but it does not have to become your identity.📖 Scriptures to reflect on: Romans 8:28, Romans 12:2, Hebrews 4:15, Matthew 6:33, and Hebrews 12:15.💬 LET'S TALK: Have you ever experienced church hurt? Are You Waiting on God... or Just Scared?
Are you really waiting on God... or are you just scared to move? 👀How many times have you said, "I'm praying about it," when the truth is, you're afraid to take the next step? Is God telling you to wait, or are you waiting until you feel comfortable, confident, and certain about what comes next?In this episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, Pastor Stephanie and Dr. Erica Jewel get REAL about the difference between walking by faith and allowing fear, procrastination, or uncertainty to keep us from moving forward.💭 Are you waiting on God, or using prayer as an excuse to avoid making a decision?💭 Does following God always come with peace and comfort, or can obedience feel uncomfortable?💭 What happens when God calls you to move without showing you the entire plan?💭 Are you mistaking fear for discernment or discomfort for a lack of peace?💭 What if you're waiting for certainty when God is asking you to exercise faith? The Bible reminds us that God has not given us the spirit of fear (II Timothy 1:7) and that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). Abraham obeyed God even when he didn't know where he was going (Hebrews 11:8).We're talking about what it means to trust God enough to move, even when you don't have all the answers. If you've been praying, waiting, second-guessing, or putting off something you believe God is calling you to do, this conversation is for you!💬 QUESTION FOR THE COMMENTS: What's something you've been calling "waiting on God" that might actually be fear holding you back?👍 Like this video if this conversation challenges you.💬 Leave a comment and join the conversation.📲 Share this episode with someone who needs encouragement to walk by faith.🔔 Subscribe to Let's Be Holy For Real for real conversations about holiness, faith, spiritual growth, and living according to God's Word.Let's be holy for REAL, not for show!#LetsBeHolyForReal #FaithOverFear #WaitingOnGod #ChristianLiving #WalkByFaith
Is God Really First in Your Life?
We say it all the time "God is first."We say, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God."We say, 'First, give honor to God."But here's the real question: Does the way we live actually prove it.?In this episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, Stephanie and Erica Jewel get real about what it actually means to put God first, not just what we say, but in our schedules, relationships, decisions, ambitions, downtime, ministry, and even how we care for our bodies.Because sometimes we're so busy doing things for God that we forget to actually spend time with God. This conversation challenges us to stop and consider our ways. Is God truly getting our first and our best, or are we giving Him whatever time is left over? What We Talk About:What does it really mean to put God first? Why the first thing we reach for in the morning can reveal our priorities.Making intentional time for God, instead of giving Him whatever time is left.Developing a "praying spirit" throughout the day. What caring for our bodies and treating our bodies as God's temple has to do with putting Him first. Why sometimes we need to stop, shut everything down, and simply spend time with God.
Loyalty Gone Too Far!
What happens when your loyalty to a pastor, bishop, or church leader starts competing with your loyalty to God? In this powerful episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, Stephanie and Erica Jewel tackle a difficult but necessary conversation about pastoral loyalty, spiritual authority, accountability, boundaries, and knowing when it's time to walk away. We're not talking about dishonoring pastors or disrespecting spiritual leadership. We're talking about what happens when admiration becomes dependence, honor becomes unquestioning loyalty, and a pastor's voice becomes louder in our lives than the Word of God. This conversation goes deeper than simply asking, "Should I leave my church?" It challenges both pastors and parishioners to examine their hearts, their relationships with God, and the lines they may have allowed to become blurred. What We Talk About:Can you love and honor your pastor while still recognizing they are human? What should you do when your spiritual leader gets it wrong? When does following leadership become unhealthy? What does "Touch not God's anointed" REALLY mean? How pastors can recognize when parishioners are becoming overly dependent on them.Should you talk to your pastor before leaving a church? When does honoring your pastor become worshipping your pastor?Let's Be Holy For Real: Are we following God...or just following people?
Reality TV Could Never
David had bedroom drama. Rahab had a past. Hosea was told to marry a prostitute. Solomon had wisdom...and plenty of complications. And yes, Song of Solomon is actually in the Bible! But what if we've been focusing on the drama and missing the TRANSFORMATION?In this episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, Stephanie and Erica Jewell get real about the juicy, surprising, sometimes uncomfortable stories in Scripture- and why the Bible is so much more than entertainment. The Bible doesn't just show us people at their worst. It shows us what God can do with broken people. It exposes sin, reveals consequences, teaches obedience, gives us wisdom, leads us to repentance, and ultimately points us back to God.And yes...we're talking about the Song of Solomon, marriage, sex, gossip, childhood Bible stories, Bible study, raising children in the Word, and those moments when you read Scripture and say: "WAIT... THAT'S IN THE BIBLE?!"What We Talk About:The "juicy" and dramatic stories people don't always talk about in churchDavid, Bethsheba, Rehab, Hosea, Solomon- and what we can actually learn from their storiesWhy the Bible shows us brokenness and restorationHow Scripture can help you find yourself-and find your way forwardWhy children need the Word and how to make Bible study exciting instead of punitiveThe Bible doesn't just expose broken people, it shows what God does with broken peopleFrom gossip to the GospelThe biggest difference between worldly drama and biblical stories: one entertains; the others transforms.
Who's Discipling You?
AI is everywhere. It writes. It researches. It creates. It analyzes. It can even imitate your voice. But here's the question we need to ask: Is AI simply a tool in your hands, or has it quietly become your source? In this episode of Let's Be Holy for Real, Stephanie and Erica Jewel have a real, honest conversation about AI, faith, the church, technology, and spiritual dependence. They're not here to tell you that AI is evil. In fact, they both use it. But they challenge us to examine how we're using it, and what happens when convenience turns into dependence. This conversation also drives into spiritual discernment, digital distractions, dependence on algorithms, and the importance of staying rooted in Christ in a technology-driven world. AI may be able to imitate your voice... but it cannot imitate your heart. And it cannot replace your personal relationship with God.Walk We Talk About:What happens when AI becomes your counselor instead of you seeking God?Who or what is shaping you? What happens when AI writes your sermon instead of you studying the Word?Put the phone down and pick up the Word..What happens when technology becomes so convenient that we stop developing the disciplines, creativity, discernment, and spiritual hunger God placed in you?AI does not have the Holy Ghost. What happens when the tool becomes the teacher?
Identity Over Title
Pastor. Teacher. Bishop. Leader. Mother. Wife. Executive. These may describe what you do, but they don't define who you are. In this episode of Let's Be Holy for Real, we're talking about identity beyond titles, positions, assignments, and recognition. What happens when the title changes, the assignment ends, or people don't acknowledge you the way you think they should? Do you still know who you are? Before the title, you are His. You are a child of God. You are chosen. You are loved. And when your identity is rooted in Christ, you don't need a position, a platform, or the recognition of people to validate who God says you are. So the question is: If the titles were stripped away, would you still know who you are? What We Talk About: Your title tells us what you function as; it doesn't tell us who you are. Before you are anything to anybody else, you belong to God. Identity is received, not achieved. -People may recognize the gift, affirm the calling, or confirm what God is doing in your life, but they shouldn't be the source of your identity. Don't confuse people's response to your talent with God's approval of your life.
Feelings Aren’t Failure
Are emotions sinful, or is it what we DO with them that matters? Can you be saved and still get angry? Can you love God and experience grief, anxiety, depression, fear, or hurt? And why do we sometimes make people feel like having emotions means something is wrong with their relationship with God? In this episode, Pastor Stephanie and Dr. Erica Jewel get REAL about emotions, church culture, and the pressure believers sometimes feel to look strong, saved, and completely put together even when they're struggling. Because having feelings doesn't mean you're failing. 💭 Can you be angry without sinning? 💭 Can saved people experience depression or anxiety? 💭 Why do we tell hurting people to "get over it" instead of giving them grace? 💭 Are we helping people heal or teaching them to suppress their emotions? 💭 Why are some believers afraid to admit they're struggling? 💭 What does it look like to support someone without judging their salvation? 💭 When should you pray, talk to someone, or seek additional help? 💭 Could your emotions actually be telling you that something needs attention? We're talking about holiness in the REAL world, the moments when you're hurt, grieving, angry, overwhelmed, anxious, or simply tired of pretending you're okay. Sometimes you need to pray. Sometimes you need someone to walk with you. Sometimes you need to cry. Sometimes you need additional support. And sometimes you just need the freedom to say, "I'm struggling right now," without somebody questioning whether you're saved. Pastor Stephanie gives a powerful analogy in this conversation: your emotions can be like the lights on your car's dashboard. When a light comes on, you don't throw the whole car away. You recognize that something needs to be checked. In the same way, anger, hurt, fear, grief, and other emotions may be signaling that something needs attention, healing, surrender, prayer, or help. If you've ever felt like you had to hide your hurt, wipe your tears, keep your "church face" on, or pretend to be stronger than you really felt, this conversation is for you. 💬 QUESTION FOR THE COMMENTS: Have you ever felt like you had to hide what you were really feeling because you were afraid other Christians would judge you? What did that experience teach you?
Who Told You to Get Married?
What does the Bible really mean when Paul says' "It is better to marry than to burn"? 👀Is that scripture permission to rush into marriage because you'r struggling with lust? Is "burning " talking about hell, sexual desire, loneliness or something deeper? In this episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, Stephanie and Erica Jewel get REAL about what happens when our desires for marriage become stronger than our desire for God.🔥Are you looking for love or trying to satisfy the flesh?🔥Can marriage actually cure lust?🔥How do you know if it's love, lust or loneliness?🔥Can attraction become an idol?🔥Are we dating with intention or dating with desire?🔥Should pastors and church leaders ever tell a couple they need to get married before they "mess up"?🔥What does self-control look like when you're attracted to someone? We're talking about holiness in the REAL world, the moments when somebody looks good, smells good, says the right thing, gives you butterflies...and you have to check yourself. 😂 Because getting married doesn't automatically fix a lack of self-control. And loneliness doesn't disappear just because you said, "I do."If you're single, dating, divorced, widowed, considering marriage, or simply trying to honor God with your body and your relationship, this conversation is for you.💬 QUESTION FOR THE COMMENTS:Have you ever had to stop and ask yourself, "Is this love, lust, or loneliness?" What did God teach you through that experience?
How Did You Get in Here?
Are you giving the enemy access without realizing it?In this episode, Pastor Stephanie and Dr. Erica Jewel discuss what it means to “give place to the devil” and how the things we watch, listen to, repeat, pursue, and entertain can subtly open doors in our spiritual lives. From social media and streaming platforms to beauty standards, personal habits, and everyday influences, they challenge believers to examine what captures their attention and whether it draws them closer to God or dulls their sensitivity to Him. Not everything we enjoy is sin, but repeated exposure to certain influences can shift our focus, feed our flesh, and gradually make things that once convicted us seem normal. Sometimes the question is not simply, “Is this wrong?” but “What is this producing in me?”What We Talk About:What it means to “give place to the devil.”How seemingly innocent habits can open spiritual doors.Recognizing what has your attention and influence. How social media, entertainment, and binge-watching can distract us from God.Why repeated exposure can dull our spiritual sensitivity.Checking the motives behind what we pursue, imitate, and desire.Guarding our eye gates and ear gates.Using fasting, prayer, discipline, and the Word to refocus on God.Feeding the spirit instead of feeding the flesh.Allowing the Holy Ghost to reveal what needs to change. Why believers must continually take inventory of what they are entertaining. Some doors were never meant to be opened. The question is: How did you get in here?

Even uncomfortable seasons, closed doors, delays, and difficult lessons can prepare us for where He is taking us. A Spirit-led life may not always make sense to others, but when God says move, we must be willing to follow. We're not leaving; we're following Christ. What We Talk About:The difference between being Spirit-led and personally driven.Recognizing when ambition, fear, image, or pride is driving you.Allowing God to determine the direction and pace of your life.Understanding that some difficulties are preparation and not punishment.Following God even when your decisions do not make sense to others. How mismanaging one season can delay the next.Trusting the Good Shepherd to lead you into and out of the difficult places.

They talk about how it quietly affects our hearts, our relationships, our spiritual growth, and even our physical and emotional well-being. Many of us say we've forgiven, but what happens when a person's name still triggers anger, old wounds resurface, or bitterness quietly lingers? Together, they explore what genuine forgiveness looks like, why it's often a process, and how God's grace empowers us to release what we've been carrying. What We Talk About:Why unforgiveness is more dangerous than many people realize.Signs you may still be holding on to unforgiveness. The difference between forgiving and forgetting.Family wounds, church hurt, and broken relationshipsSetting healthy boundaries. while still forgivingWhy forgiveness is essential for spiritual growth and healing.
Saved, Not Self-Made
In this episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, Stephanie and Erica Jewel challenge the popular "self-made" mindset and remind us that everything we are, and everything we have is by the grace of God. They discuss how to pursue success without taking God's glory, the danger of relying on our own strength, and the difference between genuine humility and low self-esteem. You can celebrate what God has allowed you to accomplish while still recognizing the One who made it possible. We didn't save ourselves, and we cannot sustain ourselves. We are saved by grace, led by God, and called to use every blessing for His glory. If the self-made mentality has found its way into your thinking, it's time to return to the source. What We Talk About:Can a believer truthfully call themselves "self-made"?God is the Source, the Master Strategist, and the One who opens doors.God gives us ability, knowledge, strength, and opportunities to succeed. The Kingdom produces saved people, not self-made people. How culture can tempt believers to celebrate independence from God.Why success, money, business and career decisions should also be submitted to God.Recognizing and confronting pride before it takes root.
REPENT!!
What if the biggest thing keeping us from God isn't the "big" sins, but the ones we've learned to excuse?Repentance isn't just for the moment you first come to Christ. It's a daily posture about of humility, obedience, and surrender. In this episode of Let's Be Holy For Real, we have an honest conversation about why repentance still matters and why it's more than simple saying, " Lord, I'm sorry." From performing in church and seeking recognition to social media influence, Christian culture, and even the difference between being spiritual and being led by the Holy Spirit, this episode challenges us to examine our motives and invite God to search our hearts. What We Talk About:Pride doesn't always look arrogant, it can look deeply religious. Is fake humility actually pride in disguise?Performing for people versus worshiping for God.The hidden desire to be seen as a "spiritual one."Why our motives matter more than our outward actions. How compliments can become a test of humility. Is today's church beginning to resemble the world? How to honestly ask God to search our hearts.

Have you ever heard a scripture preached or quoted and thought, "Wait...is that really what that means?" This week on Let's Be Holy For Real, we're talking about rightly dividing the Word, understanding Scripture in context, and being careful not to make the Bible say what we want it to say. Real Doesn't Mean Reckless
Is "I'm just being real" really honesty... or is it an excuse to be reckless? In this episode, Pastor Stephanie and Dr. Erica Jewel talk about the difference between being transparent and being harmful, telling the truth and wounding people, correcting in love, and simply "getting someone told." We're discussing reckless words, unchecked personalities, church hurt, leadership, accountability, and why "God knows my heart" is not a license to do whatever we want.Realness still needs wisdom.Truth still needs love.Liberty still needs surrender. What We Talk About:"I'm just being real" is not an excuse to be rude, reckless, or ungodly.Transparency needs boundaries, wisdom, and the right audience.Just because something is true does not mean it needs to be said.Correction should be done with love, timing, and discernment."God knows my heart" should sober us, not excuse us.Realness should glorify God, edify people, and reflect Christ.
Deliverance Didn't Fail
What if the problem isn't that God didn't deliver you... what if the problem is that you went back?In this powerful episode, Pastor Stephanie and Dr. Erica Jewel tackle a difficult truth many believers avoid: deliverance is often a moment, but discipline is a lifestyle.
