Family Discipleship series: The Most Important Person in the Development of Your Child's Faith
What if your child walks away? Today we wrap up a four-part series on Family Discipleship. We'll consider the heartbreaking reality that many children walk away from Christ as they grow older, no matter how intentional or committed their parents were. I'll share three works that only God can do in a person's heart, then an incredible couple from Grace Chapel will share their story of a prodigal child and what God is teaching them through their experience. If you have a child who cut off relationship with you and/or with Jesus, I hope you'll join.
Family Discipleship series: Guarding Their Hearts
We're continuing this morning our 4-part series on Family Discipleship. Here are four questions we can ask if we want to influence the next generation for Christ. 1. Modeling – are we proactively being the Christ-follower we want our children to become? 2. Guarding – are we proactively guarding them from harmful influences? 3. Teaching – are we proactively teaching them about Jesus from the Scriptures? 4. Experiencing – are we proactively praying that the Holy Spirit would save and sanctify them? Today we'll discover the importance of guarding the hearts and minds of the next generation.
Family Discipleship series: Be A Supermodel
Join us as GCCR Elder Terry Cartrite shares with us the importance of how we model our lives to our children. Be the Christ follower you hope your children become.
Family Discipleship series: Worldview
If your child is raised Agnostic, Atheist, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, or Amish, studies tell us they have a higher likelihood of retaining their upbringing/religion than if they are raised Christian. We can do better. Today we're starting a brand new series called Family Discipleship. The goal of these messages is to equip parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and anyone investing in the next generation of Christ-followers. If we want our children to love and follow Jesus all the days of their lives, it begins in the home.
Ecclesiastes series: The End of the Matter (Ecclesiastes 12:9-14)
If you've ever been in an unhealthy relationship, one of the common traits you experienced is an imbalance between what you gave and received. - Rules without relationship - Truth without grace - Correction without affirmation This morning we'll discover two key actions we need to balance in our relationship with God.
Ecclesiastes series: Remember Your Creator in the Days of Your Youth
Young people are capable of incredible things. Join us today as we discover Solomon's instruction to them. We'll find three anchors to help them love and follow Jesus all the days of their life.
Ecclesiastes series: A Simple Way To Hurt Yourself and Others (Ecclesiastes 10)
The Titanic wasn't sunk by a massive hole. All it took to bring down the huge ship was an opening of about 12 square feet. So it is in our lives. We can spend decades building... - a ministry… and one act of indiscretion discredits it. - a business… and one poor decision leaves you facing bankruptcy. - a marriage… and one affair ends it all. - a family… and one drunk driver destroys it. - a reputation… and one unguarded moment our reputation is ruined. - a friendship… and one careless word, then it’s never the same. One foolish, seemingly small act can have major consequences. Join us today we discover the power of "folly" and how to avoid it.
Ecclesiastes series: Unavoidable Realities (Ecclesiastes 9)
Which of these can you relate to the most? A) "Resolved, to think much on all occasions of my own dying, and of the common circumstances which attend death." - Jonathan Edwards, Resolution #9 B) "I'm not afraid to die; I just don't want to be there when it happens." - Woody Allen When it comes to thinking about death and dying, many of us tend toward Woody's approach. But as we move through Ecclesiastes, Solomon pushes the issue and makes death non-ignorable. He calls us to consider often the fact that our lives will soon be past. While we do and should put effort into preserving life, we also need to prepare for death. Today we'll discover Solomon's wisdom on how to do that.
Ecclesiastes series: Life Is Full Of Surprises (Ecclesiastes 7, 8)
Life is full of surprises. Things happen that we never planned for. Someone dies or gets sick. A major injury alters our life. A financial loss comes out of nowhere. Our home floods. Our spouse says they're leaving. Our company says we’re no longer needed. In Ecclesiastes 7 and 8, Solomon pulls no punches in telling us that life is often not fair. These things disrupt our faith. They can diminish our faith. Today we'll discover how they can also deepen our faith.
Ecclesiastes series: Wealth as a Gift, Not a Goal (Ecclesiastes 5-6)
Years ago I heard a wise friend say that if most of the troubles we experience in life are because we got something we did NOT want, the rest of the troubles are because we did not get something we DID want. Discontentment is a powerful thing. It can drive so much of what we do, from the decisions we make to passions we pursue to the places we live. Today we'll discover a powerful perspective toward wealth that allows us to live with greater joy and freedom and contentment.
Ecclesiastes series: Dangers of Isolation (Ecclesiastes 4)
In 1938, Harvard began studying young men from a variety of different backgrounds. They eventually included their spouses, grandkids, etc. After almost 90 years of studying adult development, they've found that the single biggest predictor of a person's overall quality of life tends to be the quality of their relationships. A person's satisfaction with their relationships at age 50 is a better predictor of physical health at age 80 than cholesterol levels. Amazing. And thoroughly biblical. Today we'll discover Solomon's wisdom for developing strong relationships from Ecclesiastes 4.
Ecclesiastes series: Time (Ecclesiastes 3)
If you could have more of one thing, what would it be? In our teens, it may be more fun and adventure. In our 20's and 30's it may be more success and financial freedom. In our 40's and 50's, it may be more rest. But if you could ask your 80 year old self that same question... their most likely answer would be something much different. They'd likely tell you the one thing they wish they could have more of is TIME. More time to be with loved ones. More time to be present to God and others. More time to simply enjoy life. Today we're studying Ecclesiastes 3. We'll discover Solomon's insights into how we can make the most of this limited resource... time.
The Wine Ran Out (John 2:1-11)
Grace Chapel Castle Rock Elder, Terry Cartrite, shares a message out of John 2 where Jesus does the extraordinary out of the ordinary.
A Vision for America (Daniel 4)
The year was 1787. 55 delegates from 12 of the 13 states had just finished the Constitutional Convention where they signed the original United States Constitution. As Benjamin Franklin was leaving Independence Hall, he was asked what kind of government they had created. He replied with these profound words: "A republic, if you can keep it." This Sunday we'll ask the question... how can we keep this great experiment and pass it on to our children and grandchildren?
Ecclesiastes series: Dead Ends
One of the most common cycles we find ourselves in is the Hungry - Hustle - Happy - Hollow cycle. We get (1) Hungry for something so we (2) Hustle to get it. We're (3) Happy, but that happiness soon becomes (4) Hollow. The book of Ecclesiastes has profound and life-changing wisdom to help us break out of this cycle. Today, we'll discover a truth that allows us to find lasting fulfillment.

God's presence is either a place of supreme safety or extreme danger. This reality can make it difficult to approach God. We can tend to be fearful or insecure. "What does He have in store for me?" At The Cross series: Welcome Home (Luke 15)
"Christ is more glad of us than we are of Him. The Father's heart is ever toward His children even when they wander." - Thomas Goodwin I admit I struggle with that last phrase. If it's true, if God's heart really is "ever toward His children EVEN WHEN THEY WANDER", it changes everything. It changes how we understand God. It changes how we relate to people. It changes where we turn when we stray. If you're wandering away from God, or know someone who is, this morning's message is for you.
At The Cross series: A New You (2 Corinthians 5:14-21)
One of the most freeing and empowering things you can ever do is draw your identity from God's objective truth, not your subjective feelings. What you have done yesterday does not define who you are today.
At The Cross: Just-As-If I'd Never Sinned
We tend to feel more secure in our relationship with God when we're obeying His rules. Was I loving? Did I say the right thing? Was I faithful? Did I hold it together? I wasn't loving I said the wrong thing I wasn't faithful I blew it We're continuing in our series "At the Cross". Today we'll discover where we can turn when we've failed.

Today we'll continue in our series "At the Cross". We'll discover one powerful word that lies at the heart of the gospel. Acts series: These Things Did Not Happen in a Corner (Acts 21-26)
In the 1960's, social psychologists stumbled onto something called the "Bystander Effect". It states that our tendency is to hope that SOMEONE ELSE will take action or speak up when help is needed. We then remain silent. We've likely all been guilty of this at some point. Today we'll see that God desires the gospel to go into ALL areas of life, both public and private. We ALL bear responsibility to speak up. Today we'll discover... 1. A powerful model that explains why we should share Jesus in the public square 2.
