Freedom Warriors with Maria Cochran and Lakisha Prewitt
In a world plagued by criminal markets, none surpasses the pervasive reach of human trafficking. It casts its sinister shadow over countless lives, eclipsing even the trade of illicit drugs, arms, human smuggling, and wildlife crimes. Women, men, and children are ruthlessly ensnared in traffickers’ grips, subjected to forced labor, prostitution, forced marriages, and even organ removal. These heinous acts bear many names-human trafficking, trafficking of persons, modern-day slavery-but they all share the same insidious nature. Junior Achievement - Paloma Santiago
Did you know that the majority of Arizona CEOs believe employees lack critical skills that are needed to succeed in the workplace? More than half of adults under 30 do not keep a personal budget, their average debt is over $45,000, and 12% of them don’t even have a job. It’s our responsibility to empower future generations — to equip them with the skills and knowledge to be successful and pursue their dreams. These are our kids, grandchildren, our future colleagues and community leaders. The success of our economy depends on their preparedness. With the support of thousands of education, business and volunteer partners, we are giving kids the tools to succeed. Our volunteer mentors from the community teach students about the importance of money management, workforce readiness and entrepreneurial thinking. Arming today’s youth with this critical education will result in less financial instability and debt, a better-trained workforce, a more robust economy and healthier families. Ronald McDonald House
Faced with a child’s illness, life shifts instantly, and parents enter a world of fear and worry. For parents who don’t live close to the medical care their child needs, there’s an added stress. Living expenses can quickly add up. There could be long drives from home to the hospital, worried siblings, lost jobs, finding and paying for nutritious meals. These are extra burdens no family should have to experience. With the generosity of our community, the efforts of our volunteers, staff and local McDonald’s restaurant owner operators, we are nurturing the health and well-being of children and their families through three programs.
